Today we visited the Lincoln Memorial. While we were there Deborah, our tour guide, told us the true history behind the Memorial. She told us that contrary to popular belief, his hands do not represent the letters a and l in sign language. Instead the sculpture used a cast of his own hand for Lincoln's right hand. He chose to do this because Abraham Lincoln's right hand was swollen from shaking hands all day. -Stephanie
