Saint Michael Lutheran School is an accredited, coeducational school, pre-kindergarten through eighth grade, dedicated to quality education in the Lutheran - Christian tradition. Founded in 1956, it presents an educational alternative for the Lee County community.

Saint Michael's educational philosophy embraces the total growth of the individual. It is distinctively a Christian school, as such, it offers a program of academic excellence and intellectual freedom that encourages each student to grow and mature. Within this environment the student is able to receive the personal attention that so greatly enhances academic life at every level.

Saint Michael's student body comes from throughout Lee County. Our diversity allows for a spirit of openness and adventure as students explore and learn to appreciate the broad range of background, experience, thought patterns and forms of expression their classmates bring to the school environment.

While a number of our students come from Lutheran backgrounds, the student body represents virtually all major denominations and faiths, as well as various races and ethnic ancestries.

Saint Michael's faculty, functioning within a framework of excellent academic programs and teaching facilities, provides an atmosphere in which individual attention is the accepted standard. Each classroom teacher holds a bachelor's degree or greater from an accredited college or university. Saint Michael teachers are more than instructors. Their concern for the total growth of each student comes from a knowledge of individual needs and Christian orientation that inspires them to go "a step beyond."

National Blue Ribbon School

Saint Michael Lutheran is also proud to highlight its position and honor as a National Blue Ribbon School.

Created by the United States Secretary of Education in 1982, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program honors America’s outstanding public and private schools, and encourages other schools and communities to look to them for ideas and inspiration. Now officially called the No Child Left Behind - Blue Ribbon Schools Program, it emphasizes student achievement and academic growth, which are the underpinnings of the U.S. Government’s No Child Left Behind Act of 2001.

Criteria for National Blue Ribbon Schools are rigorous. Schools must demonstrate success in the areas noted below:

-- Student focus and support
-- School organization and culture
-- Challenging standards and curriculum
-- Active teaching and learning
-- Professional community
-- Leadership and educational vitality
-- School, family and community partnerships
-- Objective indicators of success

Saint Michael Lutheran maintains superior ratings in all these areas to enhance your child's education at our school.

National Lutheran School Accreditation

Saint Michael Lutheran is an Accredited school and consistently mirrors the highest quality standards required for this recognition.  This is evidenced by the professional staff and quality education each child receives.

National Lutheran School Accreditation (NLSA) is a process of self-evaluation and a a rigorous national accrediting method designed to evaluate schools based on their unique purpose as Lutheran schools. It helps schools evaluate not only the quality of the academics and programs, but also most importantly the spiritual dimension of the school.
