Hello, I’m Melissa Owen the Guidance Counselor at St. Michael.  My husband  Adam, and I have been married over 15 years!  We have three girls.  They are Madison, Tori and Hope

I’ve been called to share my faith with youth since 1993.  My first career was working for Our Lady of Light Catholic Church.  I started right out of college as the Director of Religious Education and Director of Youth Ministry.  My love was youth ministry.  While I was in college, I also completed a Certificate in Youth Ministry Studies, a two year course, from the National Center of Ministry Development.  The youth in our parish and the program grew and grew.  Finally, I worked myself out of a job.  Both positions became full time plus!  I then continued on as the Director of Religious Education for five years.  There I was responsible for creating programs to meet the educational and spiritual needs of all the parishioners.  That involved 500 children enrolled in faith formation classes, sacramental preparation, adult education, retreats and family programs.  I loved training the volunteer catechists to know, love and share their faith with others.  I have a BA in Religious Studies and Psychology from St. Leo College.  I am two experiences away from completing my Master’s in School Counseling from Florida Gulf Coast University.
