Hi,
my name is Jamie Shaffer. I have been teaching Second Grade at St. Michael
Lutheran School for many years. I taught first grade in Lee County Public
Schools for six years before coming to St. Michael. I have a Bachelor of
Science degree in Elementary Education from Indiana University and a Masters
degree in Pre-Kindergarten/Primary Education from Nova Southeastern
University. I have also completed the colloquy program through Concordia
University.
My
husband, Russ Wheeler is also a teacher. Our greatest blessing is
our son Blake who attends school here at St. Michael.
Second grade at St. Michael offers a wide variety of
curriculum challenges. We
begin learning about Science and Social Studies extensively as well as
studies of seven different countries around the world. Much of our focus in
the language arts area encompasses using phonograms to fine tune our
reading and writing skills. In Math, we continue to practice our addition
and subtraction facts and even begin multiplication and division readiness
skills. We work hard each day in second grade on basic skills, critical
thinking, and cultural awareness while learning to be more like Jesus!
