            September 6, 2006         @ St. Francis

The Saints opened the 2006 season with a 3-0 defeat by the Falcons of St. Francis. The Falcons scored on a breakdown after a misplayed goal kick in the first half. They added two more goals a break away and goal from a throw-in near the end line. The Falcons capitalized on the Saints mistakes. The Saints had a few opportunities to score but could not finish the play. Daniel Vogelbach kept the Saints in the game with many saves. The Saints will look to rebound in their next game against St. Andrew. Overall record (0-1) League record (0-1)      

       September 13, 2006          St. Andrew

The Saints rebounded nicely with a 1-0 victory over the Stars of St. Andrew. Brece Woolverton scored off a corner kick early in the contest. The Saints came out with more aggressiveness and clung to that lone goal. Daniel Vogelbach again was outstanding in goal stopping shot after shot. The defense also played better with Austin Pry, Wyatt Staab, Teddy Rice and Zach Douglas all playing well. The Saints also came together in the midfield with ball control of Matt Schappell, Jason hoop, Brian Reeves, and Garrison Free, Overall record (1-1) League record (1-1) 

       September 18, 2006        Southwest Florida Christian Academy

The Saints defeated the Kings of SFCA 4-0 in Suncoast Junior High League play. Daniel Vogelbach recorded his second straight shut-out. It was good to see the offense come alive in this game. Scoring goals for the Saints were Brece Woolverton, Matt Schappell, Teddy Rice, and A.J. Murphy. The defense played well, and were also led by Zach Douglas, and Wyatt Staab. League record (2-1) Overall record (2-1).

       September 20, 2006         @ Sanibel School

The Saints defeated the Sea Dragons of Sanibel School 2-1. Garrison Free scored his first goal, and the Saints also benefited from an own goal off a corner kick. The Saints fell asleep and were caught off guard as the Sea Dragons cut the lead in half. The Saints also had a goal disallowed. Jason headed in a perfect cross from Matt Schappell. The home fans yelled that the ball was already out of bounds. With one ref and no line judges he went with their call, and took the goal away. Overall record    (3-1)

       September 23, 2006      St. Michael Invitational Tournament                            Round Robin            (Grace Lutheran, St. Petersburg)

The Saints defeated the Wildcats of Grace Lutheran St. Petersburg 1-0. Teddy Rice followed up a centering pass that the goalie could not handle, and banged home the rebound. The Saints stingy defense was once again led by Zach Douglas and goalie Daniel Vogelbach recorded his third shut-out. The Saints controlled most of the play in this contest, only allowing three shots on goal. Overall record (4-1)

       September 23, 2006   St. Michael Invitational Tournament

Round Robin       ( Community School of Naples)

The Saints defeated the Seahawks of Community School of Naples 1-0 in Sudden Death. The Saints scored a Golden Goal by Brece Woolverton with just two minutes remaining in Sudden Death. The Saints brought the ball down the left side and crossed a ball out in front of the net that Brece was able to put away. Thus enabling the Saints to play for the Tournament Championship in its next game. The Saints played another great defensive game led by Teddy Rice, Wyatt Staab, Austin Pry, and Zach Douglas. Daniel Vogelbach recorded is fourth shut-out. Overall record (5-1)

     September 23, 2006  St. Michael Invitational Tournament

Round Robin     ( Grace Lutheran, Winter Haven)

The Saints win the 29th Annual Invitational in a classic battle of two great teams. The Saints defeated the Lions of Grace Lutheran, Winter Haven 3-2 in penalty kicks. After playing a complete game, an overtime and a sudden death, the score remained 0-0. The Championship would be decided in a dramatic fashion, a five player alternating shoot out of penalty kicks. The Saints scored on their first three opportunities. Teddy Rice, Zach Douglas, and Matt Schappell hit perfect kicks to the corners. Grace also scored on their first two kicks, but Goalie Daniel Vogelbach was able to knock away the third kick. The Saints could not convert on their fourth or fifth kicks, leaving up to Daniel. He was able to stalwart the other two Grace kickers, who helped him by kicking it straight at him. Daniel did a great job of reacting to the ball to help the Saints Claim the Championship. Defense was once again the key to victory.               Overall record (6-1)

      October 2, 2006   St. Francis

 The Saints defeated the Falcons of St. Francis 2-0 at home in a non-conference game. The Saints scored early with a goal by Brece Woolverton and Isaac Schlotterbeck headed in a cross later to seal the win. The Saints recorded their sixth shut-out in eight games. Once again the Saints were led by their defense of Zach Douglas, Teddy Rice, Austin Pry, and Wyatt Staab. Overall record (7-1)

     October 3, 2006    @ Fort Myers Christian

The Saints defeated the Eagles of FMCS 2-0 in the American Division of league play. The Saints defense stood the test and recorded their seventh shut-out of the season. Zach Douglas injured his leg late in the contest. Jason Hoop scored first goal, and Brece Woolverton added his fifth goal of the season. Division record (3-1) Overall record (8-1)

     October 9, 2006      Evangelical Christian

 The Saints defeated the Sentinels of Evangelical Christian 1-0. The Saints once again scored a second half goal, this time by Brian Reeves his first goal of the season. Daniel Vogelbach again came up big with some outstanding saves. The defense played well led by Zach Douglas, Teddy Rice, Wyatt Staab, and Austin Pry. The Saints have allowed only 4 goals in ten games, with three of them coming in the first game. Division record (4-1) Overall record (9-1)

    October 14, 2006   CFLAA Tournament   Church of the Cross

The Saints defeated the Lutheran Church of the Cross 5-1 in first round action of the Central Florida Lutheran Athletic Association Tournament. The Saints scored in the first half on a PK by Teddy Rice. A. J. Murphy broke a tie game with a follow up goal. Matt Schappell, and Garrison Free also scored goals. Teddy Rice converted on a free kick, from near half field for his second goal. Overall record (10-1)

   October 14, 2006  CFLAA Tournament     Grace Lutheran,   Winter Haven

The Saints lost a tough semi-final clash with the Lions of Grace Lutheran, Winter Haven 1-0. The Saints had many chances to convert the tying goal , but could not finish the play. The Saints made one mistake in which the Lions leading striker was able to score. The Saints played well but were beaten. The defense again was strong led by Zach Douglas, Teddy Rice, Wyatt Staab, Austin Pry, and Goalie Daniel Vogelbach. Overall record (10-2)

   October 14, 2006  CFLAA Tournament   St. Luke Lutheran,  Oviedo

 The Saints defeated the Wildcats of St. Luke Oviedo 1-0 in the third place game of The Central Florida Lutheran Athletic Association Tournament. The Saints once again played their game with a strong defense and just enough offense to win. After a scoreless first-half, A. J. Murphy converted on a Wildcats goalie mistake. The goalie tried to beat the Saints player to the ball out near the corner of the box. Somehow    A. J. gained control of the ball and shot at the open net. A Wildcat defender tried to hand ball it, to keep it out of the goal. The ball was struck to hard to stop and he could not keep the ball from crossing the goal line. Daniel Vogelbach came up big with some heroic saves. None bigger than in the closing moments of the game when a free kick was given to the Wildcats. He pushed the ball over the top cross bar to preserve the victory. Overall record (11-2)

   October 18, 2006    @ Canterbury

The Saints lose a tough one to the Cougars of Canterbury 4-3. The Saints built up a   3-1 lead only to give it away in the last 15 minutes. The one bright spot was the Saints scored three goals or more for only the third time this year. The Saints goal scorer's were Matt Schappell, A. J. Murphy, and Brece Woolverton. The Saints finished the Division in Third Place with a 4-2 record. Overall record (11-3)

   October 19, 2006  @ Community School of Naples

The Saints get back on track with 2-1 win over the Seahawks of Community School. The Saints were trailing 1-0 at the half, but shut down the Seahawks and scored two goals for the victory. Teddy Rice scored both goals. The Saints playing a little short handed, played different people at different positions. The Saints stepped it up and came through with flying colors. Daniel Vogelbach played fullback, Brece Woolverton played halfback, and Brian Reeves played goalie. Brennen Gray and Kevin Moser stepped into the starting line-up and played well at halfback and forward respectively. Overall record (12-3)

   October 23, 2006      Evangelical Christian 

The Saints defeated the Sentinels of Evangelical Christian 3-2 in first round play of the American Division, in the Suncoast Junior High League Tournament. Mason Taylor scored two goals, one on a header from a corner kick, in the first half; he also scored the game winner with 5 minutes remaining. Jason Hoop scored off the opening kick off play to begin the second half. Daniel Vogelbach played well in the goal, along with the defense of Zach Douglas, Teddy Rice and Austin Pry. Overall record (13-3)

   October 26, 2006      @ Canterbury

The Saints lose a heartbreaker to the Cougars of Canterbury, on PK's 5-4. The Saints played well and came from behind on goals by Kevin Mosher, and Matt Schappell to take a 2-1 half-time lead. Kevin Moser banged home a rebound off a free kick, when Teddy Rice kicked it near half field and the goalie was not able to control it.. Matt Schappell scored from his own corner kick to give the Saints the lead. The key play in the game was the loss of Sweeper Zach Douglas, with a broken collar bone from a slide tackle, a few minutes before the half. The Saints played a more conservative second half, and let the Cougars tie it up. Daniel Vogelbach stopped  a point blank shot to keep the Saints in the game. The game went to overtime and sudden death where nobody scored. The contest would be decided by penalty kicks. The Saints scored on there first four shots, but Canterbury was able to tie it with the last kicker. The game would now be determined by one on one sudden death penalty kicks. The Cougars shooter won it with a perfect kick that hit the just under the upright and bounced in. The Saints played hard all year and were in every game they played. I'm very proud of each and everyone of them. Good things happen when you work hard. Congratulation on a fantastic season, you made coaching this year very enjoyable. The Saints finished the year with (13-4) record.
