Research Papers

Next week, we will begin our research paper in language class.  Students will choose a topic and begin the research process.  The topic area is Florida.  The students will choose from topics given to them in class.

This project will take us approximately one month.  Our goal with this paper is to teach the students the basics of researching, notetaking, outlining, constructing the paper, and writing a bibliography.  These skills will be reinforced and expanded upon as students move on to fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grades.  The majority of this project will be completed in Language class.  We will be using the St. Michael style manual, which provides consistency among the grade levels in the research process.  The manual is online if you would like to read it.

The research paper is an important part of our language curriculum and is a large portion of the 3rd quarter grade.  Your child will get a written copy of the specific requirements next week, including dates that each item is due.  Thank you for your support.  They will be putting forth great effort in this endeavor.
